when can i charge for thai massage?
"When Can I charge money for thai massage sessions? This is a notorious question, as I get it in various forms all the time.
Here is my perspective:
WHEN is always up to YOU. It's a free country. But first, you should be in compliance with any state regulations or statutes regarding the practice of Massage in your state/city. This means that if you are not a licensed massage therapist, you are not able to practice thai massage for the public.
Second, you should have become comfortable giving a flowing, mindful 90 minute session without referencing books or video.
Finally, in my opinion, you should have taken the time to cultivate a sensitivity to the quality of muscle tissue, energy flow, and blockage, as well as a deep mindfulness and compassion toward your client. This last piece is most crucial, as without compassion, intuition and mindfulness, you may otherwise be simply imposing a dry routine of compression and stretching techniques that have little effect.
